Spituk Monastery
Spituk Monastery, also known as Spituk Gompa, is one of the most ancient and prominent Buddhist monasteries in Leh, Ladakh. Perched majestically on a hilltop overlooking the Indus River, the monastery offers breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding Himalayan landscape. Founded in the 11th century, Spituk Monastery is closely associated with the Gelugpa (Yellow Hat) sect of Tibetan Buddhism. Over the centuries, it has played a significant role as a center for Buddhist learning, meditation, and spiritual practice in the region.
